English Conjunctions Defined

Conjunctions are words that connect sentences, clauses, or words within a clause. They can be used to connect two sentences (and) or two clauses (but). Conjunctions also join adverbs in an adverbial clause (although).

Some conjunctions have a variety of meanings depending on how they’re used. For example, “but” can be used as a conjunction between two statements and as a coordinating conjunction connecting two clauses.

They both love and respect this great man.\
Men like not only wealth but also social position.
Neither he nor his father was guilty.
I will not give him this pen, nor even his sister..
Run, else you will be late.
I would help you, only I am too busy.
